 Weddings
A wedding in this beautiful and historic building is a celebration of your love, witnessed and supported by your family and friends and before God. If you or your partner live in the Saint Mary’s parish, or are on the electoral roll, you may like to consider Saint Mary’s for your wedding. If you live outside the parish but have a particular connection with this place, it may also be possible to marry here. The initial booking is made through the Vicar. Weddings usually take place on a Saturday, but there are other possibilities.
At some point you’ll need to think about whether you’d like the bells to be rung, and which hymns and music you’d enjoy, but we’re here to help you with these decisions. The cost of the ceremony will probably form only a small part of the total expenditure on the wedding.
If either you or you partner are divorced we will need to discuss this with you, in confidence. Please talk to us well in advance, and before you make any other bookings.
Baptism (Christening)
Baptism is for children whose parents want to celebrate their birth and start them on their Christian journey through life. If you are a parent, you will be invited to meet us to discuss what is involved, and the important part godparents have to play. Baptism is also for adults who are finding their way in to faith and want to make an open commitment to the God who is committed to them.
Baptisms usually take place during the main Sunday service at 9.30am, in the company of family, friends, godparents and the whole Christian community.
If you live in another parish we will need to talk to your local priest before making any arrangements.
